My girlfriend and I have been together for about 3 months. Recently she saw a picture on Facebook of a guy she used to have a situationship with about a year ago. The thing that bothered me wasn’t just seeing the picture—it was that she saw him with another girl and got emotional about it.

She started venting to me about it, and honestly it rubbed me the wrong way. My thought process was: if we’re together, why are you getting in your feelings over another guy, especially because he’s with someone else?

I told her maybe we should take a break because it made me question whether she’s really over him. She says I’m overreacting, but from my perspective it feels weird to be the current boyfriend while she’s upset over what another dude is doing.

Am I being insecure here, or is it reasonable to expect your partner to be over a past situationship before getting into a new relationship? Looking for honest opinions.
